What are the reasons for the fading of plastic EVA products? I believe that many people worry that EVA products will have such problems. In fact, EVA is popular among daily life. It often acts as sound insulation materials, floor materials, and cushioning materials in renovation. EVA material has many advantages as a carpet, for example, good shock resistance, waterproof, electric resistance and so on. The four major reasons summarized for the fading of plastic EVA products is as below:

Factors affecting the fading of plastic EVA products. The fading of plastic colored products is related to the light resistance, oxygen resistance, heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance of pigments and dyes, and the features of the resin used. According to the processing conditions and use requirements of plastic products, the required pigments, dyes, surfactants, dispersants, carrier resins and anti-aging additives must be selected after comprehensively evaluating the above properties in the production of masterbatch.

First: Four reasons for the fading of plastic EVA products:

1. The fading of acid and alkali resistant colored plastic products is related to the chemical resistance of the colorant (acid and alkali resistance, oxidation-reduction resistance).

For example, molybdenum chrome red is resistant to dilute acid, but is sensitive to alkalis, and cadmium yellow is not acid resistant. These two pigments and phenolic resins have a strong reducing effect on certain colorants, which seriously affect the heat resistance and weather resistance of the colorants and cause fading.

2. Antioxidation Some organic pigments will gradually fade due to degradation of macromolecules or other changes after oxidation.

This process is one of high temperature oxidation during processing, and the other is oxidation when encountering strong oxidants (such as chromate in chrome yellow). After the lake, azo pigment and chrome yellow are mixed, the red color will gradually fade.

3. The thermal stability of a heat-resistant pigment refers to the degree of thermal weight loss, discoloration and fading of the pigment at the processing temperature.

Inorganic pigments are composed of metal oxides and salts, with good thermal stability and high heat resistance. The pigments of organic compounds will undergo molecular structure changes and a small amount of decomposition at a certain temperature. Especially for PP, PA, PET products, the processing temperature is above 280℃. When selecting colorants, one should pay attention to the heat resistance of the pigment, and the heat resistance time of the pigment should be considered on the other hand. The heat resistance time is usually 4-10rain. .Inorganic pigments are composed of metal oxides and salts, with good thermal stability and high heat resistance. 4. The light resistance of colorants directly affects the fading of products.

For outdoor products irradiated by strong light, the light resistance level of the colorant used is an important index. If the light resistance level is poor, the product will quickly fade during using it. The light resistance grade of weather-resistant products should not be lower than six grades, preferably seven or eight grades, and  four or five grades.​​indoor products ​The light resistance of the carrier resin also has a great influence on the color change. After the resin is irradiated by ultraviolet rays, its molecular structure changes and fades. Adding light stabilizers such as ultraviolet absorbers to the masterbatch can improve the light resistance of colorants and colored plastic products.

Second: EVA materials usually have the following 6 characteristics

1. Water resistance: airtight cell structure, no water absorption, moisture resistance, and good water resistance.

2. Corrosion resistance: resistance to sea water, grease, acid, alkali and other chemicals. And it is antibacterial, non-toxic, tasteless, and pollution-free.

3. Processability: No joints, and easy to process such as hot pressing, cutting, gluing and laminating.

4. Anti-vibration: high resilience and anti-tension, high toughness, good shock-proof and cushioning performance.

5. Thermal insulation: excellent thermal insulation, cold insulation and low temperature performance, withstanding severe cold and exposure.

6. Sound insulation: airtight, good sound insulation effect.
